We are moved by all forms of creative expression, be we are not defined by them.
Elements Architecture is a full service boutique architecture and design firm based in Barbados where synergy is the soul of the practice. This synergy lives through careful consideration and interaction of how the elements of life, design and human connection, combine together to form a building that goes beyond just the physical.
Our goal is to prioritize the human experience by uncovering the nuances of each person’s spirit and emotion, to create individualistic spaces that meet the needs of the client. By highlighting the intentional intricacies that enhance peoples’ feelings within each space. i.e how light, land, sound, and air, all help to elevate the way in which it is lived in.
We tailor our approach to meet each client’s requirements and are invigorated when clients present new challenges. We relish the opportunity that each project brings. Quite simply, we are not satisfied until you are.

If you are looking for phenomenal design, Doug is your man. Doug is a natural designer who is not bound to a particular style; his creativity knows no limits. Doug designs traditional, transitional and contemporary spaces equally effortlessly. His vast experiences range from residences in Miami to hospitality projects in St. Lucia and projects through the islands to Barbados and beyond. He has undertaken many master planning exercises and strongly believes in place making: spaces that have exceptional qualities.
Doug followed his passion and gained his degree in Architecture from Florida A & M University before resettling in Barbados. He has worked with the renowned firm of Duany Plater-Zyberk and has collaborated with Léon Krier, Demetri Porphyrios and Stefanos Polyzoides. Doug has acted as a visiting critic for graduate and post-graduate studies, most recently at the University of Notre Dame.
Doug is well versed in the art of design and likens architecture to silent music. He relies on the support of the team to transition his vision to reality, whilst keeping a keen eye on the essence of design. He is the gate keeper of all things architecture and does not settle when it comes to creativity.
